doll I've ever had. I also got a rocking chair, and I was so happy to get these. I even kept that chair and rocked my babies in it. It was a chair without any arms on it, and I could sit in it when I was older.
Keith How did your father divide up his property before he died?
Laura I used to go over and see my father in his home when he was sick-he had a cancer. I used to go over to see him every day, and he would tell me different things about the church. He used to enjoy having me come and visit with him. He had a safe in his room, and he at one time took charge of the money as a treasurer of Farmington, thus he had this safe there. When my brothers would bring money home from taking hay to town, they would always bring the money over to Father. I remember once when father asked me to open this safe and lay the money out on the bed for him to count. He gave me some of it. I had gone over o ask him for some money to buy a new coat, so he said he would give me some money, thats when I counted the money out for him, and he gave me some money to buy my coat, and a new dress. My sister often took me to Salt lake in a buggy, and we did all of out trading at ZCMI.
Now my father knew that the end of his days was coming soon, and he wrote his last testaments to his children bearing his testimony of the divine calling of the Prophet Joesph Smith and that this is the true church. All the family have a copy of that, and do prize it, and appreciate having a copy of my fathers last testament. Father divided up his property so each one of us would have much. he had sort of a map of all of the property, it was numbered and put in a box. We all met together in fathers room and drew out of this box a number that corresponded with what was on the map. This would be our property. My father gave me some bank stock, he gave all of his children bank stock. Also I had some property in a commercial store; all of this was a blessing to us, especially when I was left a widow with these little children. I didn't have to rely on any one in my family, I could be independent. My father, at the request of brigham Young, settled the town of Morgan. my father sent Charles Clark out there to Morgan to settle up that place, and to build a flour mill.
