rewarding that I had was a sealer and officiator in the Salt Lake Temple. 

Interviewer: When did you do that?

Orson Clark: I was set apart as an officiator in 1962 I think it was. May the 27th, just when the temple opened after the year of remodeling.

Interviewer: Are you still doing this?

Orson Clark: My wife and I were released on the 15th of October, 1972 due to my ill health.

Interviewer: What are your feelings toward the Mormon church?

Orson Clark: That comes first. The church has the correct teachings of how to live. If I hadn't been interested in the church, I wouldn't have been as active as I have been. There have been very few months in my life that I haven't held an executive position in the church. From the time I was about fifteen years old when I was taken in as an assistant scout leader.

Interviewer: What has been the church's role in the Farmington area?

Orson Clark: What do you mean by that?

Interviewer: This has been more or less a small town since Brigham Young's time. What has been the affect of the church on the people in the Farmington from the beginning, or up to as far as you can remember?

Orson Clark: Farmington has had two wards now for years. There was what was known as the North Farmington Ward, I don't know when that was organized. All the rest of Farmington was what was called the Farmington Ward. Then later it was divided into the First and Second Wards. Then the Third Ward was formed. Then the Second was divided and became the Second and the Fourth Wards. So the community has grown, the church has grown. We have one of the oldest chapels in the church. It is a big rock building. In there is a mural of the first Primary. The first Primary was organized in our main rock church under the direction of Orillia Rogers.

Interviewer: Did you or your father have any part in building that church?

Orson Clark: No, it was built before my days. However, it was remodeled at one time and I helped do that.
