Orson Clark: Yes, I was the representative of the teachers organization to the state and the county. The country teacher's organization. I was the president. I was the one that got the pay scale on twelve months rather than nine during my administration there. We got that over.

Interviewer: You were president of the teacher's association? What years were those?

Orson Clark: I've forgotten.

Interviewer: How many years would you say were president, just estimating?

Orson Clark: Oh, three or four.

Interviewer: You were also a delegate from the Bountiful group to the state?

Orson Clark: Yes.

Interviewer: Were you ever involved in anything involving students outside of the classroom?

Orson Clark: No, not in particular. Not in school work. I was active in religious work.

Interviewer: We'll come to that. I'm going to ask you a lot of questions on that. In the school, what was the relationship between parents and the school when you were teaching?

Orson Clark: Very good. Parents would support the teachers. That was another reason for the discipline. If there was any trouble with discipline there, you would get a hold of the parents. I'll tell you, they would straighten them out.

Interviewer: That is different from today.

Orson Clark: Yes sir. The parents would support the teachers.

Interviewer: Were there very many non-Mormon children in Bountiful when you were teaching?

Orson Clark: A few, not too many. There was no distinction as groups or the like. I know, at times, maybe they would have a little dancing party in the gym on an afternoon. There would be three or four that would come and sit there. It was because of their religious teaching. You would talk with them and find out that wasn't their religion to dance.
