Orson Clark-11/23/81 - Pg 13

Interviewer: Are you in this picture, by the way?

Orson Clark: I would be in there someplace. That's of the whole school.

Interviewer: It was a large two-story, red brick building.

Orson Clark: Up in there, they used to have the old bell.

Interviewer: Bell Tower.

Orson Clark: They would pull the rope and make the bell go.

Ruth Knowlton: Did various children have the responsibility to call everybody or was that the janitor? Who took care of the bell?

Orson Clark: The principal was in charge of it and he would delegate certain youngsters to do the ringing.

Interviewer: How long were you in this school, Orson?

Orson Clark: We moved out of that school when I was in the eighth grade. We moved out at Christmas time from here, and moved over to the school on the hill.

Interviewer: What ever happened to that building?

Orson Clark: It was torn down.

Interviewer: About what year was it, do you remember?

Orson Clark: Well, I don't know. There is some writing on the back I think.

Ruth Knowlton: "Old red school house, Farmington, Utah. Located between Main Street and First West on north side of street. Edward, Rulon, Wealthy, and Orson Clark attended Elementary School in this building." Somebody even decided that they needed to practice their spelling on here, so there is "C-A-T, C-A-R-E, A-T, C-A-T, C-O-A-L"

Orson Clark: I don't know about that.

Ruth Knowlton: If we should feel that it would be important, to put a picture like that in this book, would that be available to have it copied by a photographer.

Orson Clark: It's in my possession.

Ruth Knowlton: Well, I'm asking permission now. If the committee felt like it were necessary.
