Kindex

In the summer of 1938 I took a bus all by myself from California to Utah and spent three weeks with my grandfather Amasa. During my visit he would milk his Jersey cow every morning and night. I remember how kindly he would speak to this cow. Although I was not quite 10 years old he put me to work. He would put some of the cream into a churn and then had me turn the crank until I thought my arm would fall off! He would then take some of the milk across the street to the widow.
