Orson Clark: Well, what did he say? Last year they had a two million dollar business.

Interviewer: I guess they have the best seeds there are around here.

Orson Clark: Oh, yes. So he's done all right there. Ralph's done all right.

Interviewer: It sounds like all three of them have done all right.

Orson Clark: Merrill has a good job there, he's the County Inspector.

Interviewer: What would you say were some of the most memorable experiences you and your wife had in Oregon?

Orson Clark: The satisfaction of growing on new territory and good plants. I'll tell you, I walked over on the fence line one day and picked up a handful of this alfalfa and it came right to there.

Interviewer: Wow, I've never seen alfalfa grow like that.

Orson Clark: I had never seen a thing like that before.

Ruth Knowlton: And you are how tall, about six feet?

Orson Clark: About 5'9".

Interviewer: How many cuttings of alfalfa would you get a year there?

Orson Clark: Three. But that got me. Your alfalfa will last for years up there.

Lucille Clark: They didn't have as many weeds as they do down here.

Interviewer: It just doesn't wear out the alfalfa up there.

Lucille Clark: I think Utah is the weediest state in the Union.

Orson Clark: Oh, you don't know what the others are.

Lucille Clark: Well, you travel through the east and all of the side of the roadways they have grass on and they keep it mowed. Where there are banks, they have it covered with shrubs and flowers.
