This is not what we are pleased to call a civilized family. They have not received the Gospel. Had they not enlisted what that "Great and Abominable Church" it would perhaps be better for them and we would anticipate more success in preaching these as well as others of their people the principles of the Gospel. We open the door and meet the gaze of five pairs of dark brown eyes. Those of the fathers though are weak and he is almost blind. The little boy's eyes are also affected. Their countenances are grave and like those of most of the Arabs we have seen they are peaceful, open and apparently honest since they appear as "innocent" as Cain and plead ignorance of the coin. But the little boy on being questioned directly several times to prove himself innocent draws from the lining of his little gown his only toy, which, by the way is very crude. In fear of having to part with his fez he cries and scratches his head.
