TRIBUTE TO NATHAN G. CLARK From his oldest daughter, Josephine Clark Stock on September 1950 It is with great pleasure that I pay tribute to my father, Nathan G. Clark, at this time When the Clark Family Reunion is being held in his honor. Nathan G. Clark has been devoted throughout his life to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Its teachings and ideals formed the central theme of his life's work as they did his father before him. He has been a true missionary of this Gospel which he has loved and cherished all his life. Both through the teachings of his father, Ezra T. Clark, and those of early church leaders, and through his diligent study of the scriptures, his faith and belief in the principles of the Gospel has never faultered. With kindness to all peoples of all creeds and stations in life, and with tolerance and understanding for others who differ in opinion or principle from his own, he has won the respect of all Who have truly known him. He has suffered greatly and endured much from lack of understanding from his fellow men and members of his family because of his devotion to God and sincere desire to live all the principles of the Gospel as he understood them. During the hardships, trials, and criticisms through which he has suffered, his faithfulness and desire to live his religion without wavering is truly a test of his strength of character and trust in God, our Master. He has never failed to do good and to help others--with malice toward none and charity for all.Indeed, the love and trust my father has had in God and his fellowmen is of great and noble example. Nathan Clark has lived the greatest of all commandments: "To love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Iaw and the prophets."
