There wasn't enough people there. There wasn't enough and the like. They didn't want to, but they told them, "We want that church." They didn't get the money. He said, "There is just enough money right in this room to build that church and pay for it." So they went ahead with it.

Interviewer: They built it. What would you sau the average sized farm was up there?

Orson Clark: Eighty acres or larger.

Interviewer: Did many have over five hundred acres?

Orson Clark: Not that they farmed that I knew of.

Interviewer: Most of the run one hundred and sixty to 250 acres was the actual acreage farm?

Orson Clark: They were around from eighty to one hundred and sixty.

Interviewer: Did any of them go in with pigs or beef cattle or sheep?

Orson Clark: There were some there with the sheep they took out on the range in the summer.

Interviewer: Did many local farmers have sheep up there?

Orson Clark: No, not many. It was in or out. You were either in or out.

Interviewer: All in sheep or not in at all. How about beef cattle, was that also the same situation?

Orson Clark: Pretty much the same thing. In that locality there it was mostly crops: onions, potatoes, and corn.

Lucille Clark: A lot of them had cantaloupe, too. Of course there would be corn and wheat and alfalfa.

Orson Clark: Our son-in-law runs about 600 head of cattle in the feed lot.

Interviewer: He has his own feed lot?

Orson Clark: Yes. He operates about two thousand acres.

Ruth Knowlton: How does he get those beef? Does he go to an auction and pick them up or how does he do that?
