IN 1903 Hyrum took as his second wife Mary Alice Robinson, whose father was a brother of Joseph E. Robinson, whose first wife had been Hyrum's older sister, Mary Elizabeth Clark (102). Mary Alice lived about a year and a half in Paris, Idaho, then 4 years in Logan, Utah. Because of his first wife's poor health, Hyrum contracted for a new house in Farmington and moved her into it in the fall of 1908. The next year Mary Alice moved into the ranch near Auburn, and from then on Hyrum divided his time between the ranch in Star Valley and the farm in Farmington, paying part of his tithing in each place. In 1912 the ranch home burned to the ground, and since Hyrum had business interests in Utah that kept him away most of the time, Mary Alice and her family spent the winters in Logan, Utah, or in the village of Auburn, Wyo. She later lived in Logan and in Afton Wyo., with intervals at the ranch in between before settling finally in Farmington. (2,3)

Hyrum's first wife, Eliza, died while he was in California on a mission, which he then cut short to go home. Later, he returned to California for a second mission, 1934-36. During his later years he gardened for himself and for other around Farmington. He died from an accident. His second wife, Mary Alice, had infantile paralysis as an infant, and the braces made her lame. She was active in the Primary as a young woman and later in the Relief Society. (2,3)
