June. This is a very late spring. Some of the grain had to be watered up the first of this month. The weather is cold, and stormy until about the 3rd of June then it is windy, and dry so it is very unfavorable for crops, but by the last of June, they look some better. I get letters from Charley, and he is enjoying his mission very much.

August 5th. We held our Relief Society conference. Had the honor of Apostle Richards and wife in attendance. they gave us good instructions. The latter spoke of her recent visit to the World's Exposition and the great amount done there for this people.

August 31st. Is my 31st birthday. They brought a surprise party. I suspected it just enough to enjoy the thoughts of it before, much more than if I had been taken entirely unawares. The evening was spent in singing, reciting and playing games. A nice picnic was brought, and partaken of. Mother brought me a new wringer, and Harriet and Benjamin made me a present--an ornament and glass mug.

September 12th. I went out with father to take Harriet and Thomas to school. I stayed in Farmington, but drove to Salt Lake the next day to get my teeth fixed. They have split in nine months--$25 teeth. Came back to Farmington that night. Got some fruit and came home with father. I took Wallace and left the other two at mothers.

Gladys begins to talk some.

October 6th. Lissie and I drove our own team to Farmington. We put up some fruit on Saturday and drove to Navills at night then to Salt Lake in the morning and attended conference one day. The theme of the conference is the hard times, and also they spoke of the danger of the saints being mislead by the Christian Science of the day.

I hear that Charley is going to be released and visit the Fair in Chicago on his way home, so he will soon be home, and then we will perhaps see some change in matters.

October 19th Emma started to the world's Fair to meet C.R. They came home November 6th.

I saw Charley a few moments on the morning of the ith inst., then he went to Farmington, and I did not see him again until I heard him for the first time in public at our stake conference November 19th at Simon's Hall.
