A LIVING TESTIMONY
by Mrs. Wealthy Clark
My husband and I were married in 1879 and for te years I was an invalid. I was unable to bear children, yet I had faith in the promises given to me that I should be a mother in Israel. As time went on I grew worse and prospects were less favorable. In May 1889, I was so low with heart trouble that I could not stand the noise from the kitchen and my husband picked me up as though I were a baby and carried me to another room.
Brother William M. Palmer had just returned from a mission and the authorities sent him on a home mission for the Improvement Era. When he came to our door, Sister Peart, who was staying with me at the time, wanted me to be administered to. She had been troubled with her heart as I was, and had been healed. When the elders laid their hands upon my head I coudl feel it in every fiber of my being. When they took their hands from my head it seemed that my head would come off, but I knew I was healed. They rubbed my limbs and I got up and walked for the first time in months. I kneeled, without help, and acknowledged in humble prayer the power of the Priesthood.
Four different doctors had given me up, but from that time to the present I have been in good health. The wonderful influence in my home was so strong, even the neighbors felt it for days afterward.
A year from the following September I gave birth to my first child, a beautiful boy. I was then 29 years old, and when I was 45 I was the mother of seven lovely children.
