such good luck in farming. Father did build big homes on both sides of the street in Farmington.

Keith Did your father have a central storehouse for families?

Laura In Aunt Mary's house there was a store room. In the middle of the store room, there was sort of big shelf built up, suspended floor. Then around the room was pounds of butter, cheese, raisins, and all kinds of things that father could buy wholesale; also bolts of cloth that we could sew with. Different members of the family would have the opportunity to go to this store room and use the things that were in there.

Keith Now was this for his married children?

Laura Yes, it was for his married children as well as for my mothers children. We called it the "United Order". My fathers family lived this united order as a family. When I saw my sister or someone in family playing around, they no doubt would have a dress on the same color as mine. I've always thought that my dress was prettier because my mother had made it with tucks and lace, and made it look so much prettier, that I didn't mind it being the same cloth as the others. Another thing, my mother would always say "We're out of sugar, so you go over and tell Aunt Mary we'd like to have some sugar. Go to her first, and we also need some flour". So Aunt Mary would give her permission, and then we would get what my mother needed.

Keith So you would always go through your Aunt Mary.

Laura So always respected Aunt Mary, and mother would always say "Ask Aunt Mary''.

Keith We know that your father started a bank in  Farmington, what can you recollect concerning this?

Laura My father and Brother Steed started the bank in Farmington. My father brought the most money to this bank, and my brother Amasy (Amasa) was put in the bank at an early age to be the cashier; also my brother Horace worked in the bank after he came from his mission in California. The home that my mother had was deeded to Horace when mother passed away.

The president of the bank that Father built has always had the Clark name. Ezra Thompson Clark is now President; he bears my fathers name.
